Renovation work ceased at glove factory after fatal accident 

There are a few issues related to Human Resource. So I will share with all of you that read my blog 10 common issues in Human Resources.

For this week I would like to share about occupational safety and health issues. 

The third issues that I have recently read is from Free Malaysia Today (FMT). Based on what I have read in paper is about a safety at the workplace. 

An order to cease renovations was given by the Selangor department of occupational safety and health to the factory located in Jalan Kapar, Klang, following the death of a Myanmar national who was sixty years old. This article discusses the restrictions that have been placed on the renovations. Additionally, the director stated that he had previously given instructions to a group to undertake an inquiry into the accident, and within that investigation, it was discovered that the victim had been assigned by the employer to paint a steel walkaway platform located on the sixth level of the plant. Additionally, it is thought that the victim fell from a platform that was not protected, which was 15 meters in height, into the factory floor. Furthermore, it is believed that he was not given with any protective equipment that was suitable for his situation. In addition, the employer will take legal action in accordance with the rules of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1994 or the Factories and Machinery Act of 1967. This is due to the fact that employers have complete control over any activity that takes place in the workplace and are responsible for recognizing risks that are present in working environments.

Impact :

Employee : Employee will become victim or get accident because they got it during their work as the company did not provide full equipment.

Performance : Less performance because they did not provide with enough gear for a dangerous job.

Organization : It can leads to errors, quality issues and legal action as the employer did not follow legal standards.

Solution :

Employee : Fight for their right on getting full equipment provided by the employer.

Performance : Increase performance by following rules and doing it by the book so everyone will feel safe.

Organization : Provide equipment for employees especially for dangerous job scope to prevent from any legal action were taken.
